Meeting her family!

It seemed like 11am couldn't come fast enough, for both Tenley and I, as well as all the family anxiously waiting at home! She was almost 12 hours old by the time they were able to get in and see her and they were there at 11am on the dot! It was quite an emotional meeting but I will outline that as we go along!

So about a month before Tenley was born Hayden and I had a "big brother" day. He made a special present to give to his baby sister, made her a special card and helped me design and make his "big brother" shirt. This would be the shirt he would wear to come and see Mommy and Baby Tenley in the hospital. He was so excited about all of it. The morning she was born, Curtis and the grandparents waited until just before they were to leave to let him know he was now a "big brother" and would get to wear his shirt. He was so excited to put it on and loved wearing it. Here are the photos of his reaction and an adorable picture of him wearing his shirt!

Then it was off to the grocery store to pick up some balloons and flowers for Mommy and Baby Tenley. Hayden picked out pink gerber daisies (my favourite flower), a pink bottle balloon and of course a Cars balloon. Papa also picked out an adorable bear and balloon for Tenley.

Finally it was time to come to the hospital. Curtis called me from the parking lot to make sure Tenley and I were ready for everyone. I had just finished feeding her so it was perfect timing. I had already been up and gotten changed into my adorable custom made hospital gown (thanks ladies) and was waiting for everyone to get upstairs. Nana came in first as she wanted to document Hayden's reaction to his new sister! Hayden was next carrying flowers and balloons, and I IMMEDIATELY started crying upon seeing him. As soon as he noticed me crying, he started crying! It was ADORABLE! Curtis picked him up and he was able to see his baby sister for the first time. Then we were able to pass her off to everyone else for their first glimpses and cuddles.

Then of course it was PRESENT TIME! Hayden was so excited to give Tenley her present from him. He made her a pink beaded bracelet and a card with his handprints on it. She also got him a present, a Lego duplo Planes set and a "Big Brother" book. He was very excited to receive presents and give Tenley hers.

We were also able to fit in some family photos before everyone headed out.

After about an hour of visiting, Tenley was ready to eat again so everyone excused themselves and went downstairs to the cafeteria. Curtis spoke to the day nurse who assured him we would be discharged soon, so they all went home to await our arrival. At 2pm the head nurse came and explained to us about being discharged, what to look for and all of the other things to know. We filled out her paperwork, got her dressed, put her in the carseat and headed home. Less than 14 hours in the hospital for her. CRAZY!
